My opinion: I have a Salem and its a great TT product for the price. However, with a family, I would travel back in time and buy the Jayco. Why? 40 gallon fresh water tank in Salem vs. 90 gallon in most Jayco's. Depending upon model, Jayco does have 80-90 gallon fresh water tanks. We love our Salem but sometimes have to refill the water and drain the tanks due to the "half" size.
Also, as mentioned, Jayco 2 year vs 1 year Salem warranty. Quality wise, they use a lot of the same materials and components. Many similar floor plans.
Can't go wrong with either, but look at your water capacity...it may be a deciding factor.
