just hard to get a RV dealer to take your money

(posted in beginning RVing that category said tricks or tips...and I need some)

It is just hard to get a RV dealer to take your money anymore!!!

Tomorrow (Fri which might be today for many) we’re either coming home with it or no deal.

Monday afternoon…wife comes home and says that she has found what she wants and I need to look. I agree to look Tuesday. She has been looking for something bigger than our small class C. I have quit looking with her because getting tired of all the BS dealing with sales people. But it seems I’m caught up in it again.

We have an x-rental (Majestic) that is perfect for traveling in. I love the little thing but spending lots of time in it would get very small very fast. We spent a three weeks straight in it last year and decided that staying put for longer length of times we (she) should get something bigger.

Tuesday… I take a look and I like. My last words with sales guy were; plug in everything and turn on everything, we’ll be back tomorrow to make sure everything works. If it checks out we’ll buy it.
What could be more clear?

Wed… Arrive at dealer. Nothing is plugged in, nothing is turned on. Sales guy says if you give us a $1,000 deposit we’ll hold it for you.

I say that’s interesting if you would of done what we agreed upon yesterday and turned everything on, and if everything checked out, we would go pick up cashiers check, what could be more simple?

Sales guy says he talked with his boss and if we want it to give them a $1,000 deposit they'll start the deal. Once our deposit and offer has been “accepted” (their terms)they will look at trailer from head to toe and then we’ll “go from there”.

My question to him is "what is go from there”? He says after we give deposit and offer they will take trailer to their shop and will check out everything and that is where we will do the paperwork.

Sales guy writes up offer to purchase and deposit of $1,000. I write on the offer…subject to buyers approval of inspection of total trailer by Fri (tomorrow or today for many reading this) Sales guy calls his boss and wants to know if he can accept offer like this.

His boss sets up with a time for us to meet and tells me over phone to think about buying a warranty "to save us money". I say "look you would have had a cashiers check in your hand by now if your sales guy would of done what they agreed to”. He goes on about why I need his new hitch and controller. I know mine is from the 90's and old but still works, and if my leveling bars are on the light side I’ll buy some bigger ones, but maybe not from you. He talks some more trying to smooth over any (their) misunderstandings with his new sales guy.

They can talk all they want (Friday) but if rv doesn’t check out I’m not buying. NOT going in "halves" on new frig or a/c should it need one. Not paying for PDI (who would do that?) Very Simple if it doesn’t check out to our approval we are not buying.

Here is my question...

What is this dealer up to? Why are they playing with us?
