- 3boxerssExplorerUnless you need the light outside I would turn them off. We were camping 2 weeks ago and the neighbors had their awing lights on flash mode and they flashed all nite. It was very annoying the light flashing all nite. WE ended up puttin a blanket over the window. Our camper is older and doesnt have blackout curtains. They were very nice the next day when we visited with them and politely asked if they could turn them off or at least off the flash mode the next nite.
- drmoparExplorerRV camping here in California at some of the lakes during summer you may see Rattlesnakes. My wife was returning from the restrooms when dark and thought a piece of rope was in the road. NOT-A big rattler! They love to soak in the heat at night on paved roads. I used a waterski to kill it. It was about 20 feet from our campsite. Our Toy Hauler has lights, (blue and white), under the chassis. At night I turn on the chassis lights in case we go outside. They do a good job to see what is under Trailer. It lights up all the area with no direct light in your eyes. When we go to bed I shut them off. Yes I have the "Scare Lights" on left side, right side, and in the back, and they are bright. I only use them if I need to see when backing in the dark, or securing site for the night. If you need lights at night, consider the under chassis lights. Mine came equipped from the factory. Thanks Forest River!
- NanciLExplorer IIPlease don't leave them on all night.
Consider your next door neighbor !
Jack L - buckyExplorer III say it's up to you. Doesn't matter to me because I have eyelids. some must not the way the squawking goes on around here anytime the subject is mentioned.
It's no different than a S&B neigbor leaving their lights on. - rhagfoExplorer IIIWe camp and host, we have a nice set of lights at the edge of the awning. These are set on a timer to turn off at 10:00 pm. We also have several solar low light pathway lights to allow campers to see well enough if they need to come well after quiet hours.
- cooperrobtExplorerDepends. On my last camping trip I had no need for a porch light because my neighbor next to me kept his street side flood light on all night. Felt like camping next to the restroom. I will have to admit that he was in a brand new trailer and probably wanted to show it off.
- DustytuuExplorerWe have a small portable fence around our door for when dogs need to potty late at night. We put small amount of decorative LED lights on the fence and on a TIMER. So they are not on all night.
We use these lights so we do not step on a snake, wild animal or whatever, and can see our little dogs at night when we are out there with them. Never had a complaint and had many many compliments on our lights.
We also enjoy sitting outside at night when lights are on. Our lights automaticity go off at bedtime.
We also put bleach water mixture on our gravel yard when needed to keep it clean. Of course we always pick up.

Just read a great reason to shut those lights off. Lightning bugs do not like light. If you want to see their display at night, shut your lights off and you will be more likely to be visited by the little twinkling insects.

Now I know how to open up campsites around me so I have more room.
...On the other hand if I were camping and everyone had their lights on I would certainly look for another camp site immediately the next morning. ...
