Looking for Honda EU2200 for my RV.

Has anyone any idea why retailers can’t or won’t sell the Honda EU2200 generator at this time? I tried to get one from stores in my area and couldn’t find it. Then I went online where I was sure I would find it but didn’t. I had no idea why and then I heard something along the lines of Honda not allowing this to be sold at this moment. Why? Has something bad been discovered about this model and has it been recalled?
  • why i like my eu3000.
plenty of umph for all my needs so far. and at every camp ground i have been at.
heavy enough to keep it from just "walking" away.
with a fancy set up i have, i get a remote start,
extended fuel supply, can refill if needed safely with the gen running.
    and auto choke.
best part is nothing except the fuel connection is visible. and can still run at factory set up if i wish.
but yes i do mis my little eu2000 at times.

but not to fret. one can not beat a honda gen. if there is a problem. it will be fixed and the units will run for decades.
sad part is if your does burn out it is dumped in the garbage, as it costs double the new price to rebuild them.
  • this is interesting that they aren't being sold. I got a letter last week saying mine was under recall and I could take it in immediately to the honda dealer to get it fixed. Now if they can fix mine, why can't they fix the ones in stock?

BTW, I've had it since they were introduced it's a BIG improvement over the 2000. The 2000 would run out of "ump" at about 2500ft with the micro air. With the 2200 it will run the AC at 5000ft and still not at full throttle and has about 300VA to spare. Even runs the AC at 7000ft, but no margin. Big improvement over the 2000.

    Whatever that's supposed to mean. :h :S

A 50% larger engine translates to FAR better surge capability for the EU2200i in a genset that weighs similar to the Yamaha 2K. :B

FWIW, the OP didn't ask about alternatives, they asked why they were having difficulty finding an EU2200i they could buy. :R

I bet Yamaha generator sales are getting a nice bump while Honda sorts this out.

The two makes are so close in performance and price.

Yamaha only offers a 2K unit with a 79 cc engine, the EU2200i has a 121 cc engine and is a far superior genset. This is a minor bump in the road, only affects units within a certain serial number range, and will be resolved by Honda.

far superior in BBQ power I'd say. Get a Champion and pocket the difference. They don't leak fuel. I have a 4 year old one. Runs flawlessly.

  • No wonder everyone says they are so quiet, your not allowed to buy one, much less run it,, ;)
