- RoyBExplorer IIWe use CVS and WALMART... They have stores everywhere it seems...
Roy Ken - Jim_ShoeExplorerSo far, I've only needed to see my Doctor once every six months for a routine checkup. My scrips aren't considered narcotics, so the scrips are written for 90 pills x 2. That keeps me going for at least 3 months on the road, which is good enough. Kroger pharmacies are in 31 states.

They use third world pharmaceutical companies. That is why their prices are so low. Check the labels on your meds you will be shocked to see what countries your meds are coming from. And they do NOT have to follow the US standards.
FDA did an expose on these countries pharmaceutical practices and it goes from not the right dosage to dangerous impurities in the products.
If you saw the pictures of where and how these pills are made you would never put one in your mouth ever again!
Nope. I won't ever buy meds from Walmart. In fact I always REFUSE a generic being used for my prescriptions also.
You are incorrect. We worked in the pharmaceutical industry. Generics and WalMart are perfectly safe. - KA4EBUExplorerWe use Walmart and Humana's Rightsource. NO problems so far and expect none.
- Prpl_LadyExplorerA warning to those that get prescriptions filled at 'chains' while traveling. North Dakota does not have a single Walgreen, Kmart, Walmart, Sam's Club, etc with a pharmacy. There is one CVS in Minot, ND with a pharmacy. The reason for no chain pharmacy is because of a law passed many years ago stating that a pharmacy has to be owned by a pharmacist... ND's way of protecting small businesses. The Minot CVS was somehow grandfathered in when the law was passed. There are efforts underway to change the pharmacist owned law, but nothing has changed as yet. To be safe, be sure to get your prescriptions filled before or after traveling in ND if you use ANY chain type of pharmacy.
- tatestExplorer IIIt depends on your specific medications: perishability, DEA classifications, and how you are paying, since third party payers have their own rules.
Sometimes going national works better, sometimes a big supply works better, but sometimes you just can't get around a requirement that the doctor see you before you get a renewal, and in some cases this prescription needs to be issued in the state where it is filled.
When my wife was alive we used Walmart for some scrips, CVS for others, KMart for still others, depending who had low cost programs for what. Then we used an insurance-paid mail order service for a prescription nobody was selling at low cost (and that one was about $120 a month on the co-pay, one pill a month, three delivered at a time).
My daughter had prescriptions that could be filled only one month at a time, a doctor's visit every three months, and could not be filled out of state.
So it varies.
Talk to your doctor about what he is prescribing, what are the rules on how much can be provided at one time and where the prescription can be filled. - dave54Nomad

Most will only give pills for 90 days so a national chain is the way to go.
We can get a 'vacation override' and order a large supply in advance, at least for the prescriptions we have. - KennygExplorer

I Travel all over the country and have always used Walmart with NO PROBLEM! This response sounds more like Walmart bashing rather than answering the original question - rockhillmanorExplorerBeware of Walmart's lower med prices.
