Many parks are going the way of non-campers paying to dump to discourage non-campers from doing so. This puts an added strain on the facilities and some parks even have to have the waste hauled out.
Same goes for leaving your bag of trash in the dumpsters if you're just passing through. The parks pay/dumpster to have the trash hauled away.
We volunteered at a park that was on the way to great boondocking sites. Guess what happened on Sundays? Yep, many times we had to close the dump station because it was overfilled - an added cost to this popular state park and to the campers in the long-run.
