My new TT

Friday I bought my first TT, a Kodiak 285 BHSL. I was looking at something cheaper, but the DW wanted this one. After I put down the deposit a few days prior, I arrived at the dealership this past Friday.

I was supposed to sign the paperwork then do the walk thru. F that. I downloaded a checklist from this website (I'll find out who posted it and personally thank them later) and went thru the TT with a fine tooth comb. And still missed a few things!! Anyway, I spent 8 hours having them fix stuff before I finally signed the documents.

I went straight to the camp ground, which was dark by now, where we camped for the weekend. Even though it rained the second night, we had a blast. The kids and dog loved it.

And my Ram 6.4 Hemi with the 3.73 gears end did a good job towing her.

If I can figure out how to post pics, I'll post those later.

Congrats. Bet your looking forward to using it soon. Wife and I just did the same but need to wait till spring. May I ask what needed to be fixed?

    - Wood screws in frame around fridge stripped
    - A/C ducting
    - Cabinet & door latches adjusted
    - Scratch on fiberglass
    - Screws on outside water inlet stripped
    - Frame reglued around base of bed
    - Trim on bunks reglued
    - Stripped screws in pantry coat rack
    - Reseal top back corner of trailer
    - They installed my tv mounts for me
    - Scratches on cabinet in bathroom
    - Drawer guide rail loose

    I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things.

I still missed a few minor items. And the scratch on the outside of the trailer and on the bathroom cabinet will have to be repaired later.
  • Sounds like you did your homework and was prepared! Good job! And congrats on the new camper!

  • A very smart way of buying a TT. Dealer was probably shocked at your checklist approach. Bravo!

Good job on not signing the paperwork before the walk through. Sounds like a shady dealer to me.

    Happy camping man!

They were actually very accommodating and did everything they could to fix all of the issues I pointed out. C+ on issues with the trailer, A for customer service. The dealership is Funtown RV.
