Nervous about dealers

We are purchasing a new RV. We want to get it in Florida so we can save shipping costs as we wont have a truck right away. We live in New Jersey. I have called numerous dealers and it seems like the only one who has the model we want is Orlando RV. Everyone keeps telling me they can get it but then they call back and say sorry, we can't sell that model. Anyway, I read good and bad things about every dealer, including this one. Should I be nervous?
  • You live in NJ. The rig you want is at a dealer in FL. Even if you do this deal, the FL dealer will charge you shipping costs from the factory to his dealership lot..

Because, more than likely, the unit was manufactured in the mid west...so you are going to pay the freight from the mid-west to FL.

...thus, no freight savings to you.
I'd deal locally or as close to you as possible - cross country is not the best way to go.
The only way I'd do a deal that long distance would be if the out the door price savings was significant.
  • If they come back with a good price, I'm only going to give them $100.00 deposit to approve the credit. If approved, nothing else until the unit comes in and we approve it.

Yup, be nervous. Don't give them any money until you have the RV and everything is just right. Don't let them tell you they will fix it later when you bring it back in. Get it fixed before the money goes to them. And always be willing to walk away from a deal.
