Confidence in your equipment will go a long way in soothing your nerves.
Be methodical when hitching, check tire pressures, get ALL of your rigs weights and confirm correct tongue weight. An incorrect tongue weight will ensure an unsafe and stressful ride.
I still get a little nervous towing. I avoid lane changes whenever possible, but when I do change lanes I try to anticipate well in advance. Until you have practiced backing up your rig don't get into a position requiring backing up...
A big stressor for me is fueling. It seems we are never traveling in areas with large truck stop style fuel stations. Hasn't happened yet, but worst case I can always drop the trailer in a parking lot, go fuel at po-dunk gas station, and rehitch.
