I bought my first travel trailer almost 2 years ago and recently upgraded to a larger trailer a couple of weeks ago.
I didn't even make it home with the first one before I hit a post at the gas pump. Make sure that you have plenty of room when in tight spaces like gas stations. The trailer doesn't track in the same place that your tow vehicle does. Make wide turns, left and right.
Almost had a similar incident with my newest travel trailer. Through no fault of my own, I missed a pickup bumper by a fraction of an inch in a restaurant parking lot. The new trailer was considerably longer than I was used to and ......
BTW, I live west of Fort Worth in Weatherford. Stay on the major freeways through Fort Worth and/or Dallas. Give other traffic plenty of space and give yourself plenty of space when changing lanes. When the sun is right, I can use the travel trailer shadow to judge distance to other vehicles, but sometimes you just have to turn on the turn signal, give others a chance to respond, then change lanes.
