Magazine capacity no problem.
How they intend to enforce? I have no idea but I can tell you from passed experience, if they need to make "an example" out of somebody, I'll probably be it.
I'm not familiar with California's laws, because I don't have any intention of going there anytime soon, but be careful about those magazine laws.
New York City has a restriction on magazines that allow the gun to carry more then 7 or 8 rounds. If you have a 10 round magazine and only load the 7 or 8 rounds you are still violating the law, because the magazine is still capable of carrying more than 7 or 8.
I'm not sure how this law would ever prevent a murder (because most murderers don't really care about a misdemeanor magazine capacity law), but it makes uneducated lawmakers feel better inside. Even if you are legal to carry in NYC (like an off-duty police officer) you are still bound to the magazine cap law and can be arrested and prosecuted. I believe a police officer was prosecuted under this law a couple years ago.
Be careful, know the laws before you travel. Don't research them in a forum... find the actual law and read it with your own eyes. If in doubt, contact local law enforcement and ask questions (I use email to get it in writing).
