The new law is about the IMPORTATION of ammunition. California residents are now required to purchase their ammunition from a California certified seller. If they choose to buy from a mail order or Internet seller, they have to have it delivered to a California certified seller not to their residence.
The second part of that (so that residents cannot bypass the above) is that residents are banned from purchasing ammunition in another state and bringing it into California for use.
This does NOT pertain to non-Californian residents who are not trying to sell or give ammunition to Californian residents (if you try to sell or give, then you could be considered making an illegal sale or illegal importation of ammunition). If you are traveling through California, the laws are the same as before regarding the transport of ammunition. If you want to buy ammunition while you're here, you'll be required to follow the above Californian laws.
Would be nice if folks shared accurate information instead of political diatribes.
