I posted yesterday and I guess I was missing some information in my post. When you're new at stuff, you know..in any event here is my question in full details I hope
I just bought, my first ever, a 2013 F-150
It is a 4X2, supercab, V8 5.0 engine, 3.55 diff, full tow package including tow/haul option. the sticker on the door says GVW 7100 lbs and combined weight, occupants and cargo 1725 lbs.
I am looking to buy a Travel Trailer ( not a 5th wheel ), 26 ft which has a GVW of 7100.
Will my new truck tow this travel trailer with relative ease or will it struggle especially up-hills and front winds? Should I look at a smaller trailer?
As I said, I am new to this. Any input from members would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

You say the GTWR is 7100lbs? If that is the case than 7100lbs is the max weight the trailer should ever be if you load it full.
If you have 1700lbs of payload on your F150 then I would think you're inline with payload. 7100 * .13 = 923lbs on the hitch worst case. - Pay attention to your payload and make sure to use a good WD hitch. I would go with a min 1200/12000lb shank and 1000lb spring bars. Expect to pay $500+ for a good hitch and more if you want the sway control as well.
I think you would be just fine according to specs. NOW - just because the F150 is "capable" by specs to tow the trailer doesn't mean you will have a fun time doing it. 7000lbs is still a LOT of weight behind your 7000lbs truck.
It always takes time here for someone to post common sense. In this case, GVW of the trailer. OP stated 7100lbs, which is the max weight it is every allowed to carry, and HIGHLY unlikely to ever be 7100lbs. But that said, at the end of this post, 7000lbs is again mentioned! Come on now!
The OP's set up is good. There is no issue. Payload must be watched and calculated carefully, but that's no reason to say this set up is too much for the truck. It simply is not too much, not at all.
