New to owning a truck and RVing

I posted yesterday and I guess I was missing some information in my post. When you're new at stuff, you know..in any event here is my question in full details I hope

I just bought, my first ever, a 2013 F-150
It is a 4X2, supercab, V8 5.0 engine, 3.55 diff, full tow package including tow/haul option. the sticker on the door says GVW 7100 lbs and combined weight, occupants and cargo 1725 lbs.

I am looking to buy a Travel Trailer ( not a 5th wheel ), 26 ft which has a GVW of 7100.

Will my new truck tow this travel trailer with relative ease or will it struggle especially up-hills and front winds? Should I look at a smaller trailer?

As I said, I am new to this. Any input from members would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I think I will enjoy this forum. I know I will certainly learn a lot
  • Hi just a thought for trailer weights I would look into the ultra lites I puul a 25 ft TT ultra lite now with a F250 but I had a 96 Silverado Ext Cab and the trailer pulled ok with my half ton. Good luck and BTW welcome to board
  • according to the towing guide from Ford, my truck is rated for 9800 lbs towing capacity. These are just numbers, and I value opinions from people who have had experience in these things. Please keep the advice coming.

    Thanks in advance
  • Many members here (We call them the weight police) will crash down on you for such a set up. Normally we wouldn't recommend a TT that close to your your maximum tow weight. most would recommend about 15-20% cushion safety.
  • Smaller trailer/bigger truck JMHO. Truck will probably struggle some on grades of any type. Once again, JMHO. There will be some who will say "go for it", but I wouldn't. Some rave about the "Eco-boost" and some rave at it. Your $$$, your final decision.
