I would consider getting the TPMS along with a good laser temp gun & air press gauge.
The laser temp gun is also invaluable in giving lead indicators of high bearing temps.
On a 8000 mile trip we took couple of years ago, we had two tires loose air, (did not blow). We were lucky that we had stopped both times & noticed the tires being low. I feel a TPMS would have revealed the low tire pressures.
Summertime heat is hard on tires, we always travel with 2 spare tires, aired up & ready to install.
After all, Nobody can predict what might fall off of vehicles onto roadway, both of our low tires were result of nails or other unwanted metal being picked up by tires.
