I have a 2013 Ram 1500, 5.7L V8, and max tow is a little over 10000 lbs.

That's awesome. How does it do climbing and high altitude?
My truck has the max towing and heavy-duty suspension. I haven't towed over any of the high mountain passes near our Colorado home (10,000+ elevation) but we have towed along I-5 from Bakersfield to Portland and south to Big Bend National Park. Have yet to encounter anything that challenged the engine. As long as I'm willing to expend the gas, it can accelerate uphill with our 7,500 pound (max) trailer in tow.
