While technically true perhaps, once you get to the 4K, ultra HD devices, you won’t find many if any that have a coax input. They may have composit/component input but once again, just as happened when the US went digital, external tuners may be required if you input source isn’t HDMI or USB.
So you're saying 4k/UHD displays can not use an antenna input to receive programming? They never have to change channels? I've never seen an antenna with an HDMI output jack.
I bought a new 4K 55” TV about a year ago and it does not have a tuner or coax input.
It has four HDMI and two Component RCA inputs. .
It is a smart set so you stream Netflix Prime, etc.
Directv and DISH connect with HDMI.
You can buy a OTA DVR if you want OTA.
