Newbie - CB radios & WalMart index

I am about to take delivery of a NorthStar 8.5. Q1: I'm looking for a good CB radio. Suggestions?

Q2: several postings to this blog have recommended getting a map/list/whatever for the US from WalMart. So far one gent could not understand me. 2d gent said that is confidential info & he would not release it to me. At that point I did not dare ask him about overnite parking. Suggestions?

If you don't have a "smart" phone (like me) sign up at https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/walmartrving/info and once you get membership, look under "files" they have a file of stores that do and don't allow overnighting. Even if you hate WalMArt Print out list and keep it with you. You never know when an empty ice chest will come flying out of the truck bed in front of you and KO your windshield and you have to stop to get it fixed next day.
If you have smart phone or GPS there are aps for that.
The last atlas we bought at Walmart was outdated by the time it was printed. That Yahoo group keeps up on their list pretty good.
  • Go to a Walmart and buy one of their Rand McNally atlases. It lists the store in it along with addresses.
I have an inexpensive Cobra 40 channel from Walmart. It works good enough for most people.
  • Have you been on Walmarts website & looked up finding stores?
