Only thing you might burn up is the extension cord if you use a real chintzy one plugged into a good 20A outlet with no other draw and turn on more than that in the camper.
For lights, fridge and battery charging while plugged in, a decent extension cord and adapter from your 50A is fine....unles you have 240V service at the camper, in which case you SHOULDNT be able to find an adapter that fits. But even if you do, you'll just only have 1 leg of power, so whatever is on the opposite hot leg won't work.
