Boats & RVs are somewhat similar. Both are full of third party stuff which can be had from all kinds of aftermarket sources. Boaters seem to be more self-sufficient. It has been a few years since anyone got off a boat to walk for help. Whatever happens the boater has to deal with it.
JMO but buying a very old anything is not a good idea, unless you like to spend money & constantly be fixing things. I am in the lightly used, still relatively new club. Doesn't matter. Boats or RVs. Either way the first owner gets to face all of the new unit issues &, in boats especially, pays for all of the add ons that simply must be had.
After a year or two he discovers that he has bought the wrong boat/RV again, wants out because the latest & greatest something else has caught his eye. This is where the person who has done the research steps in & gets something almost very new for a steal of a price because somebody else ate the biggest hit on depreciation.
In 38 years I have bought 5 boats. Two were new. Both rare & fore very specific reasons. Three used at 1 year old, 4 years old & 6 years old. Not much of a different story for the RV. Multiple years of research then the waiting game for the right model to pop up.
Got lucky & got it. Only 6 months old. Truck & trailer together. The new buyer had bought a huge mistake & wanted out.
Bottom line, know what you want. No compromises. Be prepared to go a great distance to get it. Don't buy new but get as new as can be found.
