There are occasions where an original poster will dramatically change their initial post (often by entirely deleting the content) either because they didn't get an answer they wanted or, in some perverse cases, because they got the information they did want. If the response doesn't quote or otherwise repeat the pertinent information from the post, it becomes useless and/or misleading afterwards for anyone who might, for instance, search for it.
