You see this several times a day - when someone is the first person to post a reply to a question, why do a number of people use the QUOTE function to reply with instead of using the REPLY TO TOPIC fu...

1) Isn't long before topic gets sidetracked and I want my post to reference OP
2) Want to respond to something in OPs post
3) Folks have a tendency to misinterpret that a post is about them and not the OPs post so quoting it helps keep comments on target"
