Yes, it's a Vortec, which is the L-29 engine with 290 HP. The engine is 7.4 or 454 CI with multi port fuel injection. The transmission is a 4 speed ahead with fully locked high gear (4th). If the temperature sensor is working it goes into 4th at around 55MPH but if the sensor is bad it stays in 3rd. There are other sensors that shut down the fuel pump,(which is in the fuel tank). One is crank shaft sensor the other oil pressure sensor. The Chevy was $1,800 more than Ford that year and a much better transmission. The Vortec has headers and two converters then a Y pipe which keeps the engine running cool, as the prior 454's were subject to overheating due to the Y pipe being before the converter. They were digital fuel injected.
