Too many purists here. It's common for people who are at a site longer than a few days to leave the gray tank valve open until a couple of days before bugging out. Doing so without a water seal in the stinky slinky vents the park sewer system through your gray tank and into you camper through open windows and vents. My new Fantastic vent has a reversible fan that sucks air into the motor home, making things worse.
I've seen temporary P traps made in the slinky by leaving a space between the hose sloper and the tank outlet. This should be all you need to do.
