P trap
Does anyone put a makeshift P trap in your sewer hose to prevent sewer smells from traveling back up into your tanks/rv?

At most campsites the sewer hose lying on the ground and connected to the sewer pipe naturally forms a P trap. Depending on the length of stay, the grey water valve may be open or closed, certainly closed for the last day. The black valve will be closed except for dumping.
