Parking trailer on an decline

Hello to all and thanks in advance.

I am taking my trailer out this weekend and moved it from storage and parked it near my home. I am park on a slight decline and was wondering if I could just put chocks on the trailer wheels and leave it attached to the truck? Or should I rest the weight of the trailer to the ground with is still attached to truck? What's the safest method? The trailer will be there for 20 hours or so before I take it out. Thanks, again!

If it's just a slight slope you can do it either way. Newer TTs will be OK with the frig on. Day or even few days you should be OK.

Make sure you verify with your specific fridge's manual whether it's okay to operate on an incline or not. If it's a residential style fridge with a compressor, it's generally not a problem. If it's an absorption fridge, even a new one, running while stopped on at a noticeable incline should be avoided, even if it's a new model.

  • If it was me, and I was not going to need the truck, I would just leave it hitched to it.

  • In any case, chock the wheels. A gentleman disconnecting his new TT was lucky his safety chains held. I too was lucky. It began rolling back towards my new DP and my family sitting outside. I learned from that one.
  • I don't see a problem unless you want to run the fridge. To run the fridge, the trailer needs to be close to level if left parked for a few hours.
