Just because of my background in LE, I carry a loaded firearm in the trailer at all times. That space is my home when I'm on the road.
I can honestly say I have never known a law enforcement person to just walk up and check you for a gun, especially in a camp ground.
Now I have to also say that I've never had an incident in a camp area (or anywhere for that matter) to require a firearm (while on a trip). The Boy Scouts have a motto, " be prepared." Be aware of your surroundings, enjoy the view, and have fun!!!
