Hi all,Quick question for you...Have you tried Duratain protective coatings on your trailer or RV ?So - I am in the process of ordering a new trailer, and my salesman - who by the way was the salesman on our last trailer and some of our friends as well, whom otherwise has not steered us wrong (yet, that I know of) - is touting the virtues of the Duratain coatings.(there are various types, exterior, textile, awning/vinyl, undercoating).In all honesty, it has the initial gut feeling of "rubberized undercoat" on a used car.Any thoughts or experience on these products ?My inclination is not worth the money, but I am putting forth the effort to research it a bit because I have ZERO reason to distrust him so far, and asking questions is mostly free ;-)thanks a bunch for any thoughts !

It depends on how hard you are on your TT. We passed on the offer because we purchased a used TT and outside of a twice a year wash and wax, we do not baby our TT. I doubt at trade in time a protective coating would mean much.If you trade often and your TT is mint condition, a protective coating may help it maintain its value.

I don't know anything about duratain products. But, our Sunline trailer with aluminum sided was protected by a product called Krystal Kote and never required waxing. We had the trailer for 10 years and the siding always washed off pretty well and the siding was still in great shape when we traded it in.I guess you have to consider the cost. Your money may be better spent on using either Aerospace 303 protectant or Protect All. I've started using Protect All on my vehicles as well as our Minnie and I'm impressed by how well it is holding up, and it's so easy to apply and wipe off. I've also used Aerospace 303 when we had a pontoon boat and it is an excellent product.

I don't know about that coating but, I do know that is how the dealer adds to their profit margin. The salesperson can actually make more money on the extras then on the sale.
If you like it, see how much it costs if you get it on your own.

The biggest virtue is the $$$$ that will go into the salesman's pocket!

It is only worth what it would cost to pay someone to put a coat of wax on the RV.

We were newbies when we purchased our trailer in Feb. We got the coating along with an extended 7-year warning (I know, they saw us coming). But it's actually pretty cool. Very very easy to wash and looks like it has a permanent wax job. I had a problem with one of the windows while on the road - came un-hitched. I didn't know what to do so I got out the duck tape and taped the window shut against the rig. The duck tape would not adhere to the coating - almost slid right off. The one thing to know, however, is they don't coat the top rubber roof. You have to do that yourself.

It might be a good product, but the value would depend on the cost IMO.
