If you're properly trained and can handle the gun safely, I see no problem carrying it in your RV if that makes you feel safer. Like the member above stated, there are many things to consider like if you discharge a round, where's it gonna go? The shotgun idea is a good one IMO as it's a bit safer if you pop off a round. Having said all that, I'm a gun owner and don't feel the need to carry in my trailer. If we traveled extensively across the U.S. like some do, that opinion might change.
I did carry my 12 ga shotgun I use for Trap shooting once as there was a Trap and Skeet field close to one of the campgrounds we like to visit. I used to shoot Trap competitively years ago and still enjoy it.
