Pismo Coast Village timeshare

Does anyone have information on the good/bad about timeshares?
We have camped at Pismo Coast Village before and wonder about the merits of owning a share or not.
  • Ed and Others,

I have a place on a California beach to stay without annual fees or assessments and if I chose to sell today (yes a market exists with demand) I would I would recognize a $23K profit. PCV is a public company that owns, beach property, storage property, RV shop. This is NOT a time share investment.

All time shares are a terrible financial deal for the buyer. You will never get your money back out of it, it will cost you $$ every year whether you use it or not.

Most time share owners regret ever making the purchase. If you buy, do yourself a favor and look at the resell market, you can buy for pennies on the dollar.

  • Do you really want to camp at the same place and at the same time - agian, and again and again, and again...
  • Sam,

I have had one share for 10+ years and purchased a second last year. The part that most people overlook is that you are NOT purchasing a time-share. You will own one of approx. 1,500 shares of a public company and you can resell shares for what I believe is a $100 fee. If you like Pismo and a camping, as opposed to a permanent experience, you will not find anything with as good of a location or kept up better.

  • As of March 2013 there were shares available at $29,000 and $35,000. Share Price. Scroll to last page. For that you get 45 days of free camping. No other costs like HOA etc. Seems like you would need to camp there for 12 to 15 years to break even.
