My suggestion would be to also to move the posts your mention while doing this project. 11' sounds like a bunch of room to back a 8' wide trailer through but when you start turning it and fighting swingout of the trailer as you back, you'll realize it's going to take some practice. On a trailer that size and depending on the axle placement in relation to the end of the trailer, you could have a significant amount of over hang behind the wheels. I've driven trailers from short 2 horse to long 5th wheel and gooseneck and they all take some getting used to in close quarter maneuvering. That said, IF you have the opportunity to make your opening bigger, It would be a wise investment to give you a little more breathing room. One OOPS and you may do enough damage to have paid for it.
