Prescriptions on the road

The first place to start is figure out what your insurance will allow. Mine insists on only allowing them to be mailed to me, but they will will do an extra 90 day vacation advance once a year. It's a pain (so to speak) but we make due with it.

If they'll allow them to be be picked up anywhere, then you have WalMart, KMart, Costco, Fred Meyers, Krogers, CVS, Walgreens and many more.

Can your MD electronically prescribe or is he still on paper prescriptions? Call and ask

Now when I was stuck for years in Georgia I used a "Local" chain, but now that I'm back on the road again I use Wal*Mart... National and they will call and fetch the script from my last store... SEE WARNING BELOW.

Some National chains (Wallgreens I THINK does this) use a central comptuer so all of their stores have your script. Check to be sure.

The warning: I DO NOT take narcotics.... Thus Rules may be differnet on narcotics.

Then you should be able to get your MD to Escribe to any pharmacy in USA. It is easiest if you stick with one pharmacy such as Walgreen's or Walmart.
You just need to let the provider KNOW the exact address of the pharmacy you want to pick up from. Staying with one brand pharmacy means that they will be able to see that you do this regularly and are not scamming for narcotics.
WE prefer Walgreen's and have had zero problems since going with them exclusively.

The only other alternative is to have someone pick them up at a local pharmacy and Priority mail them to you. You have the package held for you at the post office. Not all post offices hold mail but generally the little towns still do This is not legal but we used to do it before escribe came along.

We have done this for my wifes back narcotics until this year when she found a pain management doctor who gave her some non-steroidal shots and she has been narcotic free for 7 months now. She was on Oxycontin for 6 years and previously went to pain specialists for injections

The rules for narcotics vary but generally Escribe must be to the exact pharmacy you will be using so if Walgreen's has 2 pharmacies in a town only the exact one it is prescribed to can fill it.
We lived with these rules since 2010 and are very familiar with them

I full time and use Walgreens. They are everywhere and do have a central database. Have used them all over the country.

I suggest that you get the address of the Walgreens in a town near your expected location, then call your doctor and ask him to send an electronic prescription to that location. Then you pick up when you get there. Not sure refills will work, so it will need to be a new prescription.

Your in Texas - How far is it to Mexico? $800/person, Mexico prices, no narcotics as the US doggies get excited.

DW works the system and usually has a 6 month supply within the expiration dates.

We've also had them mailed to family members or a pharmacy.

We go to Yuma, park at the Native American parking lot for $6, walk to the Purple Pharmacy in Algodones, fill their purple shopping bags, return and the doggies are bored.

And this is all about avoiding the **** donut hole - as I said DW works the system.
