Response from "resmas" makes very good sense to me. I would NEVER try to winter in an RV of your budget in Maine for 1 winter let alone 5-6. You could never get comfortable enough to properly study.

If you do decide to try an RV, DO NOT stack bales of straw as wind barrier. Imagine a fire and you inside!
