Ratings guide

I apologize for misplacing this info posted on my site....but I did. It was in reference to finding a non-biased ratings/review guide. I believe this comes out once a year. Any answers for me. I promise not to loose it this time. I also just may have trouble with finding my old info on this site:(
Thx

There are also the Trailer Life tow rating guides that are published annually.

  • Susan,
Do you mean this: Almost embarrassed to ask....

As to non-biased motorhome reviews. Owners are biased!!! There is a RV rating service which charges for their review books. I think they are biased, too. What you have to do is sort out the quality manufacturers from the crappy manufacturers. Just seek out the high line coaches and you will be happy. With them you don't have to buy new, because they are well put together!
  • I think what you are referring to is the Trailer life/woodalls combined book now called the Good Sam RV Travel Guide and Campground Directory. The ratings are not necessarily a good indication of whether or not you are going to like the park. The scores are based on completeness of facilities. Little leeway is given for quality of those facilities and whether or not those facilities are necessary for the park to operate successfully. Things like playgrounds, pools, gamerooms etc. will up the first of the three scores, but they really don't matter to many travelers. The second set of numbers is the restrooms. A good score often means a clean park, but there is nothing to say a park couldn't be a dump except for the toilets. And many RVers don't use the park's restrooms and showers, so they do not care. The third set is things like site size, roads, landscaping etc. Again, maybe important, maybe not. A very nice scenic park can have some pretty bad roads and still be a great place to stay, while a good road doesn't necessarily translate into a place you automatically want to stay. I mean I bet some prisons have nice roads.
RVparkreviews.com, is the opposite. It is people's opinions. Most people take out the highs and lows, read a little between the lines and get a pretty good idea of what a park is like. Regardless, no matter how much science and research you put into selecting a park, there is always an element of chance. It is actually one of the fun things about RVing. You find gems and the occasional turd. Just laugh of the bad and savor the good. You are still on vacation, it sure beats working.
  • If you want to find all of your posts go to the top right corner of the page and click on My Forums. Then click on My Posts. That will show you everything that you have posted. As far as a non bias guide to campgrounds we like www.rvparkreviews.com It is real time by real people like yourselves. However don't just read it. Post about every campground that you pull out of yourself as it helps the next guy.
