Welcome to the forum, glad you joined. You know, if you can afford it, go for it cause life to short for regrets if you know what I mean. You'll have to think about medical insurance as that can be a huge expense, but if you have that covered, I'd go for it.
What kind of RV to buy is really a personal choice. What kind of camping do you envision yourself doing? Boondocking in the deserts would require something very different as RV resort living in a city. It you want to see what's on the other side of that mountain, you'll need something a lot different than if Interstate travel meets your needs. Also, what are you comfortable driving?
This time of year there are a lot of RV shows going on, check one out and talk to the sales folks and see what makes sense for you but don't by new, like cars, they lose 20% of their value driving off the lot and there are so many gently used RV's out there. If you can pay cash, your so much better.
You might want to take a couple weeks off, rent an RV and see if our lifestyle is what you thought it would be, and if you find as you travel around, you can't get rid of that grin on your face, welcome to RV life
