Review & comment - instructions for dumping tanks

I've been working on my blog lately- mostly things that my sister and her friends ask me as they started getting into camping this summer. One of the topics that came up was "how do I dump my tanks" from a pair of really new campers w/ 3 kids. I explained it in person a bit, but wanted to get it in writing.

Here's what I finally got around to coming up with:

Learn to RV - How to Dump RV Tanks

Does anyone care to read through it and comment/critique it?

Thanks!
  • This fascination with having a clean poo tank always amuses me.

Me: Hook up slinky. Pull blackie. Close when done. Pull soapy. Close when done. Rinse and put away slinky. Continue trip.

Nice write up.........lots of scenarios covered

BUT do you really take an hour to dump and flush :B

I turn on black tank flush before I open dump valve.....dump/flush (clear adapter), dump grey.....add a few gallons back into black via flush connection...done 10-15 mins total MAX. and that's 120 gallons plus flush gallons.

Yup- I do each tank individually. Black 1 first- dump, flush (x3 usually at 5, 4, and 3 minute fill times w/ the valve closed). Then the gray 1 and gray 2 get emptied separately. Black 2 happens w/ the same flushes and finally gray 3 get emptied.

For the flush- I typically run it as the black tank slows down for a minute or so, but find that I get more "stuff" out if I close the valve and let it run for a few minutes - hence my staggered 5, 4, 3 fills.

Ok, you got a special mention for that one. :D

Thanks! I can honestly say, I've re-read what I wrote a time or two and have a horribly time of finding those kinds of typos.
