RV Air Conditioner 101 for Newbies

As a Newbie I have some questions about using my AC unit.
1-the tech at the RV dealer said to use my AC unit on AC high only and not use it on AC low. He stated that if I used it on AC low that there is a chance of the AC unit freezing up. Has anyone else experenced this?

2-When my TT is unoccupied in a RV park for 2-3 days should I run the AC unit to keep it cool and also help the refrigerator to keep cool?

3-Any other useful info on AC units is appreciated.

    1. This is a best practice along with running with the fan on high full time.

    2. Yes

    3. Keep the filter clean. Mine requires weekly cleaning.
  • Running AC on high will help prevent freezing - don't think there is much controversy. I personally wouldn't keep AC running if my rig was going to unoccupied for days - don't keep the AC in my house running when I am on vacation either.
  • Interestingly when I was in Florida during the summer and my old ac keep freezing up....RV mobile repair said to leave it on low fan. Because on high fan it can't evaporate properly. Along with the side comment that snowbirds that stay for the summer just don't know how to use an RV ac correctly in extreme humid conditions!

I turned mine down to low fan and it never froze up again.

    2. Yes but set the thermostat on about 80.

    3. Keep the filter cleaned.
