Without getting into "Ford vs Chevy" type arguments with class A vs class C and brands, I can only add my observations over the past 25 years of RVing and about 500k miles in everything from class c to a to custom bus to Truck conversion super Cs.
The question of competence of the RV consumer group reviewers has been discussed as long as I have been RVing. They DO NOT road test anything and seldom actually even touch an RV they are reviewing. The owner has derived a formula that he has tried to make the gospel for RV handling etc all that time. That formula is Wheel base to Length Ratio.
As any racer or ex racer can tell you, those ratios do not mean squat, just a broad spectrum that *HE* believes is all that matters. Ask him for his database of accidents or test drive data and you won't find any.
MOST of the class A and Class C (gassers especially on Ford rails or frames) can solve 90% of their handling problems by having the maximum camber adjusted into the front ends (VERY well documented over the years on almost every RV forum). Balance plays as much a part of handling as does his ratio, and that info is not provided by him.
In short, I would not and have not wasted my money on some book that has no scientific or peer reviewed evidence. It's your money, do as you wish, but visit many forums and test drive what you like and you can decide for yourself who to believe and save the book money for a lunch with you best friend.
There has been a lot of good information posted on your thread, OPer. The above 'quote' sums up the best direction for you to go in making your informed decision on what model to purchase.
Well written.
