I had a friend who has been rv'ing for years, so got lucky there, but it also seemed that if you treat the rv inspection similar to inspecting a home/vehicle, you will be able to spot problems.
note: if it looks like it will rain soon, I'd do it after the rain so you can inspect for water damage.
there is lots of info on youtube also, good resource there.
