RV pad Question?

RV's tend to be 8'6" or narrower in width. You will have 18 inches on each side of the trailer which is all that you need. With a trailer you will not need that thick of a pad though if you later decide to get a motorhome you will want a 5" pad to support its weight.

We live in unincorporated Orange County, Florida. RVs can be parked on the back yard, but a permit is required and there are requirements for setback from property lines, fencing, etc. (There is no HOA in our subdivision and we have 1/3 acre lots.)

Might want to check with the County Building Commissioner or whoever you need to get building permits from.

Mine is 11' 6.75" wide. As long as you can back it in, and get the door open to get inside, you are good to go. I can not open the slide on mine because I have a pole barn over it.

I started with a 12' gate, and ordered a 12' wide pole barn. When the pole barn was assembled it was 11' 11.5" wide outside to outside of the legs. It may actually be 12' if you measure the reinforcing ribs on the aluminum cover. When you subtract the width of the 2.375" wide poles, that leaves 11' 6.75" of space inside to inside.

I made it tall enough that I can get up on top to work on the roof, as long as I stay hunched over.

The space has our garage on one side and neighbors yard on the other. No fence issues. Haven't talked to my neighbor yet I guess. There is one slide on the camper we're getting and it is on the yard side so we will be able to fully extend it when parked. Thanks for the advice on the permits. I'll definitely look into that before starting anything.

If you have room, I am sure you will enjoy it. I assume your neighborhood agreement (if any) allows it. Also, be aware that even when it is allowed, the visual conformity snitches will be contacting the permitting department. So be sure you get permits if required for any work. There may also be restrictions on how close to the property line something like a pad can be.

Nice thing about it being at home is that you can use it for an extra bedroom when relatives come to visit. Especially if you can get the slides out. If you are building a place new, consider installing at least a 30A dedicated outlet for it, and if possible, water and sewer are really nice.

Mine is exactly that wide. It's not big enough to get the slide all the way out but it does go out far enough to get around in the TT.
We have always been glad we have parking at our own house. If you can swing it then I say go for it.

As long as you can back into it why not? It's probably no worse than going through those construction areas that look like there is less than a foot to the cement barrier. Get it squeezed over to one side so your door will open easy. Over the years you will save a ton of money. Maybe $12,000 or more over 10 years and you can see it when ever you want. The storage area I'm in is probably 10 or 11 feet wide.
