This is why they have the 10 year rule!!!

While that may not be everyone's idea of "pretty", there's nothing wrong with it that I would complain about if they were camped next to me. Have we, as RVers, really become so "elitist" that we have to dictate what the people in the next camp over are driving? If there is something dangerous or unhealthy about the rig next door, so be it, but otherwise...I'd be more interested in how their campsite looks once they are set up (and even then, it's none of my business unless the aforementioned health issues arise) and how they treat other campers around them rather than whether their "stuff" is shiny and new.
To put it into perspective; we once camped at the river next to a group who obviously had more money than sense. They had brand new, top of the line everything; Motorhome, SeeDoos, EZ-ups, vests, chairs, grilles...and they were the most inconsiderate, obnoxious, rude, and just flat out STUPID people I've ever had the misfortune to meet. 10yr rule? Totally ineffective against ___-holes.
Isn't the whole idea of RVing to allow families to get away from the hum-drum of everyday life and make some good memories while seeing the great outdoors? Since when does that require a shiny new $100K RV? I started out, as a kid, sleeping in the back of my parent's pickup with a round canvas top on it. We progressed to a slide-in camper, and then when I got married and started out, took a step backwards and camped out of a mini van for a number of years, eventually purchasing our first used motorhome when the kids came into the picture. Even now, I drive a 26 year old RV (see pic in my sig) that may not look as nice as the $100K rigs on the road, but everything works, it gets the job done, hauls all my toys, AND is paid for. If anybody looks down on me for that, then they can go F themselves. In fact, you'll notice (in that sig) that most of my toys are also 15-25 yrs old, although I tend to think of them as "classics", and they still run with the newer machines quite well, thank you.
BTW, just last month camped in Newport Dunes; they do have the 10yr rule, but said nothing about my 26yr old rig. It's generally a tool for parks to use if desired, but most are smart enough to not abuse it. My $, while perhaps less of it, is still just as good as anyone's.
