Can a 20A load be safely run through a 15A adapter? I want to be able to run our A/C off my 120V x 20A 3000W generator without a meltdown, and I know a 15A plug will physically fit in the socket, but ...

The quality wasn't why I wanted to move it far away, only the noise.
It was cheap because it was a divorcee selling off her husband's stuff. It'd never been used and they sell new for about $250. It's one of those open framed Chinese models. Not a Honda for sure, but generally they work well enough to get the job done. Here it is on Amazon.
