I camp alone, husband does not enjoy it. I preplan my trips an let my husband know my plans. No significant other? let someone know.
I also attempt to make it look like 2 people are around, my only real security is a large dog. When I register at the campground I say 2 people.
I never post online when and where I am going, I wait til I am back.
Sounds like you are looking at fulltime, but most of this still applies.
As someone else said, trust your spidey sense.
