I think this is a big factor - some people aren't comfortable or accustomed to being alone, whether traveling or at home. If you are used to being surrounded by family, co-workers, friends and neighbors all day then solo travel will be a huge change. If you live alone in a S&B and already enjoy solitude and self-reliance, you'll likely be fine on the road as well.
