We just came through the Bend to Crater Lake area. Stayed a couple of nights at LaPine State Park (full hookups) just outside of the town of LaPine and then spent a few nights at Diamond Lake campground (Forest Service, no hookups, but available showers/restrooms/water). Diamond Lake is only about four miles from the north entrance to Crater Lake NP. There was road construction in the park, but otherwise good roads and easy to get around.
It takes about five hours or so to get from Ontario to the Bend area. You would definitely want to find a place to stop between YNP and Crater Lake. There is a small RV park in Fruitland ID (Neat Retreat), but I'm not sure what kind of availability they normally have. Be sure to top off with gas when you hit Burns, as there isn't anywhere to get fueled up between Burns and Bend.
Have a great trip.
