Sealing Roof ??

I have a small leak up front on my 5th wheel I can not figure where its coming from? so I was woundering if anyone has used the plastic dip in a spray can on their Rv roof. I have used it for a lot of other things and was just woundering if you could use it on the Rubber roof of the 5th wheel. Tried looking up reviews not many out there some say Yes some say No.
The Flex Seal stuff seems to be a joke in a can but was just woundering about the plastic dip
  • Dicor. Check around the lights. They may well be leaking. Check your scare light. After replacing a bulb I re-installed mine and saw water in it. Found that I had not turned the drain hole down.
  • The homeowner plasti-dip offerings have over 33% petroleum solvent, not a good solution for EPDM patching.

I would suggest the best thing you could do is perform a pressurized leak test to find any and all leaks and then use suitable materials for the repairs. I know a lot of the folks on the Forum use Dicor sealants and Eternabond tape with good results, myself included.

Link please to plastic dip. Never heard of it.

For sealing up roofs I've used Heng's rubber roof coating (in cans). Goes on like paint, seals up anything.

here is the web site http://www.plastidip.com/
  • The stuff is called Plasti Dip, I have read reviews on the flex seal and no one really cared for it and it didn't hold up to what they said it would. I was thinking of using Plasti Dip it's the stuff you dip hand tools in to put a rubber grip on them and it comes in a spray can

Thank you orlandimal I will do the same
  • Some petroleum based products are incompatible with rubber roofs - I would contact the mfg and discuss - there are similar rubber based products that are made for RV's (be my first choice).
  • why do you consider flex seal to be a joke in a can? yep, coating a screen door to make a boat float is a joke but hey, if the stuff works, should work fine on a rubber roof. I assume it is a petroleum distillate product however.

  • It rains here alot in Florida and I had a leak and I need to fix it ASAP. I used Plasti dip on my 5er at the front corner where the roof ends and the side begins and it worked and have had no leaks for 4 months now. I do not know how long it will last so when the weather here in Florida cools off I will repair it correctly with Dicor.
