seeking RV driveaway /rental Oregon > New York

My girlfriend and I are seeking a short-term driveaway / rental of an RV to go from Portland, Oregon to the Catskills in New York. We would ideally do this in November and take about 7-10 days to get there.

Please respond if you know of any options or other good places to make this request. Thanks very much!

Traveling in Nov./Dec. could mean driving in snow. Be sure and get a weather application program that will enable you to monitor weather and road conditions on your route.
  • A driveaway is unlikely, there usually isn't much delivery traffic at that time of year on that route.

Check with a national rental company (e.g. CruiseAmerica) that has a widespread network of agents and wiil do one-ways. Many will not.

Expect cost to be high, a whole lot more than airfare. It is not unusual for rentals to be $1200-2000 per week, include mileage only 100 per day, so excess mileage and one-way supplement could more than double the rental, and you'll buy gas at about $0.50 a mile this season.

If you are soliciting a driveaway here, rather than advice, you maybe didn't read forum rules?
  • you don NOT want to make that drive in a RV unless you're highly experienced in severe winter driving.
and 7-10 days isn't enough time.
we drove from Napa, Calif. to Chicago in November, to pick up our new trailer. we went straight there and back and it took us 5 days. and we nearly crashed in a winter snow/ice storm in Wyoming on the return trip.
if you are leaving the RV back east, then maybe it's doable but it's still a bad time of the year.

The OP is talking about a ONE way drive. Portland to Albany, NY is about 2,800 miles. With a 7-10 day drive, that's only 280 to 400 miles a day.
