Exactly........

The living room opposing slides completely cover/shade both curbside/roadside tires from sun.

PLUS we full timed for 7 yrs. and the slides where only retraced for 5 hrs. on travel days......rest of time they have been extended.

Side seals/wipers are still soft supple (baby powder 2X yr.)

Course 5vr is next to house and plugged in 24/7....emergency/guest house/man-cave etc.

NO!
They do not seal unless fully retracted or extended AND you should not use slide (stand on it/walk on it etc) when partially extended.
THey are self supporting when fully extended not in between position

Thanks you all so much for your feedback. Just wasn't sure if there was something I didn't know that could hurt. I do have one more question. For future reference, if you camp at a spot where there isn't enough room to pull the slideout all of the way out, is it bad to pull it out part way temporarily (say for a few days)? Your feedback is much appreciated!

I don't know that leaving it out when stored will hurt it, but I prefer and do leave mine in when stored. There's no reason to leave mine out as there's plenty of room to get up and down the length of it.

Congrats on the new trailer. Purchased my first trailer with a slide last Nov. and had the same question. I also store it at home.From what i have learned from speaking to those who have had slides for several years, it's mostly personal choice. I have been alternating between in and out. Usually i go 2-3 to three weeks between alternating, just to keep the seals from getting a "memory". This is just my own personal belief, and I always run in the slide during bad weather (when being stored of course).

While at home we have one slide open sometimes and closed others, all depends. Our rear slide is always closed as there is no room to open it. Either way will be fine, just be sure the trailer is level.

At the seasonal campground we used to stay at, everyone put out the slides in spring, and did not retract them until closing up for the season in the fall.
