Truck stops generally are pretty loud. FJs usually have RV parking away from the truck parking but still it can be pretty loud for a light sleeper. It can be done however. WalMarts are OK but depends on locations since rednecks like to blowhorns while sitting next to you and then drive off.
We have stayed at FJs, casinos, WalMarts, Lowes and Home Depots. Not because we were cheap, but it was late and we did not have a location of a CG close. Best ever was a Cabelas in Mitchell SD. Some of the larger rest areas on the interstates can be OK, but again there is a lot of sleaze that prowl there during the nights - more so in Fall and Spring on the N/S routes.
Whatever you do, make sure your towed is locked as well as the compartments on the coach and especially the entrance door. I tell my kids to never open up for any one until they show who they are and they had better be law enforcement with fully visible patrol car and in uniform.
There are some nasty, dangerous people out on the road.
