stopping for a single night - rest area or rv park?

We'll be taking a trip next month and we've scheduled 3 days to get there. So we've made reservations at RV parks along the way. I know a lot of people here say they just like to play it by ear and stop when they want to, but we've got a timeline set up and this is how we've discussed and planned. Works for us. And that's what matters right?
